NANCY's COUSIN BILL

Bill is a lot like his father in that he is on the cutting edge of "what is new"in the world. I remember his dad teaching me how to use a CB radio years before the CB craze hit the American motorist. Over fifty years ago {before our marriage} Bill, let me drive his Triumph roadster. Bill also has the distinction of teaching me to water ski the first summer of our marriage.

Who ever said "The best things in life are free" was not talking about the St Louis Zoo

AN INTERESTING # FORTY ONE!!!
I realize some may say this one is a little lame however in all my visits to the zoo I have never sat on,listen too, saw one spit or anything else with a dinosaur.The bottom line is I judge last Mondays visit to a dinosaur exhibit at the St Louis Zoo as a new experience.
The day started out as a huge traffic jam at the zoo but once we found a parking
place the day turned out good.

It was a beautifull day and the Dinosayr exhibit was worth battling the traffic [Oh I forgot Sherri was driving!!!!!]

NUMBER FORTY IS SPECIAL!!!!!
Last Sunday Paul, James Grandma and I went to GCS stadium in Sauget Il to see the beep ball championship game.[for an explanation of beep ball see posting 5/3/08 titled "A rewarding experience"
I knew that today for a contribution I would be able to take five swings blind folded at the beep ball.
What I did not know was my seven year old grandson Paul would jump up and attempt this with me. A pleasant surprise.
Thanks to a suggestion from my friend Kathryn I have been including family and friends in my march toward seventy.
I am proud to report both Paul and I did make contact with one of our five swings.

James chose not to be blind folded but did climb on the dugout.
Number forty was a challenge as it was really dark inside the blind fold.

THE END OF A GREAT TRIP!!!!!!!!!
On Friday we toured part of the huge,beautiful,University of Michigan campus.

I laid on this massaging bed EVERY morning and evening. Oh!!!! how my back misses this great massage and heat treatment. The bed is called Mi Gun and there is an outlet on Olive St. Road.



I am holding Winnie their Boston Terrier. She is coming to St Louis in September.

HAPPY JULY 4TH 2008!!!!!!!
I took the photos tonight in Ballwin Mo of beautiful fire works yet with a heavy heart about our country.

After a week in Detroit immersed with Henry Ford I am worried we have sent too many jobs away from our shores in search of more profit.
Yes Mr ford was interested in profit yet he had a burning desire to improve and move the common man to a better life. In the name of more profit have we lost that passion to help our fellow man.
When I think of our freedom I think about 12 courageous men in 1853 that voted to free a black slave right here in St Louis by the name of Dred Scott.
In 2008 could we find 12 people with that amount of grit and nerve?
With the 2008 presidential campaign in full swing I daily find my mail box full of personal attacks on our candidates but little interest in the issues of the campaign.
I will not be here in 2076 but I wonder if we will still be celebrating our independence.

TO HELL and BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Last Friday found Nancy and I in a really small town by the name of Hell Michigan.


The main attraction is to have ice cream in Hell.[the outrageous Raspberry is delicious]


Hell is a one block town featuring


a ice cream store,general store,restaurant and a post office.











For the reality show fans of Survivor their was a contestant from Hell who worked at the ice cream store that made it pretty far.They say his downfall was he "trusted the woman". I have never seen Survivor so I can not verify.The young man still comes into work but now it is merely to draw a crowd and sign autographs.


Even thought Hell is in the middle of no where it is only about fifteen miles from Ann Arbor Michigan the home of Michigan University.
