GREENFIELD VILLAGE PART TWO!!!!!

We were in the village at 5:00 PM and John had the opportunity to ring the bell and notify all the day was completed.









Sitting in,riding in, and looking at Model T's was a top interest for me.





















On every trip they had to stop and discharge steam.







Reasonably certain this is oldest USA house in the village.





Wind mill is oldest USA structure in the village.

Reasonably certain this is oldest building in the village and is from Europe.

So much to see and do that we will have to return to the Detroit area and Greenfield village deserves a second visit..

I could easily have counted three or more firsts but chose to count only one.
* My first ride in a Model T.
* First ride in a bus called a "Woody" The driver said there is only 14 left and this is only one that runs.
* First ride in a two horse carriage that could easily carry ten or more passengers.

Part two tomorrow

#36 is a tour of Ford Rogue Plant

This past Tuesday afternoon Nancy and I flew to Detroit Mi. to visit with her cousin Norma and husband John. We were about two hours From our landing when we began a self guided tour of Ford's Rouge Plant.We had our own tour guide in John a United Auto Worker's member and a Ford retiree.




This is the site where the first Ford was built 80 years ago.


Terrible picture of me but note the Green roof. This roof collects and cleans rainwater for use by the plant.


Obviously I was not allowed to photograph the production line.The line moves every minute and you must finish your assignment within that minute.
It was impressed to see Mr Ford's goals,dreams,ingenuity,in action.

WOW!!! HALF WAY THERE AT #35!!!!!!!!

This is proof positive how fluid and flexible my working list functions. On Thursday around 3:00 PM I found out there is a professional major league in the sport of Lacrosse. There was a game scheduled in St Louis on Saturday between teams from Chicago and Philadelphia.It is not an exhibition game but a regularly scheduled league game that counts in the standings.

Yesterday I ventured out to the AB Center in Fenton and watched my first ever Lacrosse game.

I am sure I cannot adequately describe the sport but I will try.







The game begins in the center of the field with two players trying to get possession of the ball. It seems this is similar to a face off in hockey or a scrum in rugby.













This is about my fifth shot and you can see the little red ball heading for the net.



Photo three is also a goal. I am reasonably sure Nancy does not have to fear my acquiring another sport. The game appears it could be exciting {if you really understood it } but to me the game appeared mean spirited.

AN UNUSUAL DAY AT THE STADIUM!!!!!!!!
The eagle was training for a future pre-game performance. Apparently they perform around the 4Th as the same pair practiced last year.I have started carrying my camera every work day in order to handled surprises like this.

THE FIRST 2008 PICNIC IN THE PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday we took Donovan, Kayleigh,Paul.and James to Castlewood park.One of the side benefits of my quest for seventy is we find interesting places that we want to do again. Last March Nancy and I discovered Castlewood and said in the summer lets bring the kids for a picnic lunch.

NUMBER THIRTY FOUR IS HISTORY!!!!!

Last night Nancy and I had an enjoyable evening at Shakespeare in Forest Park. The temperature was comfortable,humidity was bearable, the breeze was cooling, and the atmosphere was terrific.

The acting was very good. The play was long but I am glad we attended.We got there at 6:30 and were kept busy with many activities till show time at 8:00

The quest for seventy has certainly stretched my thinking and comfort zone.
