TWENTY SIX YEARS AGO TODAY

WE woke up to plus twenty inches of snow. The city was paralized for days. Snow started Saturday night after 10:00 PM and had quit by the time we woke up. The twenty plus inches fell in about six to eight hours.They called it a thunder storm snow.

We did not move our car till Tuesday afternoon and then the challenge was to find a place to park. I did not go to work till Thursday and again finding a place to park was the challenge.

I hope this snow storm is not a repeat of twenty six years ago.

Today Nancy and I drove to Springfield Illinois and toured the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.





What a great self guided tour. It truly was a living history experience.

This photo is real special as Nancy is standing next to John Wilkes Booth. Booth visited the White House on 4/11/1865 before the assassination.The man on the far right is General Grant.

PAUL CELEBRATES SEVENTH

BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Saturday evening the family helped Paul celebrate his seventh birthday.

In photo one noticed the gift wrapped created by Princess Kayleigh. In photos two and three we see Paul admiring some of his gifts.

In photos four and five he is admiring his cake and blowing out seven candles.

Grandma and I started our Saturday by watching Paul play basketball in a YMCA league.

NUMBER 3 BELIEVE IT OR NOT
MY FIRST SCHOOL FIELD TRIP

Back in the civil war when I attended school they had not yet discovered field trips.

Nancy has searched her memory and can only remember going on a field trip one time in Independence Mo. with Terri. Edward thinks maybe he had one field trip. It seems maybe field trips is a fairly recent event.
Today I went to the Old Court House with Donovan and his fourth grade class.

The fourth grade class put on a reenactment of the Dred Scott trial and Donovan was the Bailiff. I enjoyed the day!!!!

HAPPY TENTH BIRTHDAY!!!!
DONOVAN
Today January 12 the family celebrated with Donovan his tenth birthday with a family party. Sunday the 13Th is his actual birthday.
He received lots of gifts and the cake was yummy in the tummy.
It is hard to believe that ten years ago I had been retired thirteen days and I was still in my fifties


Donovan I hope you have a GREAT birthday and many more.

THE FUN CONTINUES




Even thought I have lived in St Louis for sixty six years of my total of plus sixty nine years. I have never toured the brewery. Today Nancy and I remedied this by taking a tour of Anheuser Busch Brewery. We found the tour interesting, informative, and would recommend the tour.


























This photo is in honor of Sherri. When she was four and we were living in Independence Mo. Sherri brought home a six week old Dalmatian puppy given to her by a subdivision painter.She named him Tinker. This Dalmatian was much calmer than our Tinker.

have taken countless photos of Clydesdale's at Grants Farm but this is my first photo from their St Louis starting point.

This photo is in honor of my Uncle Bob and his family as they spent their working life in this Brew House.

NUMBER ONE TOWARD SEVENTY

I started 2008 by making an apple cobbler. In my sixty nine plus years this is my first attempt at cooking beyond micro wave, George Foreman grill,and outside barbecuing and grilling.


I purposely chose a cobbler because I grew up eating my grandmothers apple cobbler.I wish I had her recipe but I used Miss Gin's peach cobbler recipe from McKnight Rd. cook book.

Right now I feel confident I will succeed at doing seventy things in my seventh year that I have never ever done.
