Body's Island Lighthouse
This lighthouse is located about thirty miles south of the Currituck Sound Lighthouse.
The next lighthouse going south is the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

Obviously there are steps traveling up but you are not allowed to climb to the top.

This lighthouse had a beauty and charm but somehow you loss your sense of adventure by not being allowed to climb to the top.!!!

THE END OF ANOTHER DAY IN DUCK NC.
The Outer Banks of NC. have some of the most beautiful sunsets that I have witnessed.
This was the last sunset of our trip and it actually began to rain on the way back to our condo.
One reason is the location of two large body of waters. You have the Atlantic ocean then westward is the Currituck sound and then the mainland of NC.

AN UNUSUAL ADVENTURE.

On this particular day Nancy and I visited Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head NC. In the park we climbed a sand dune that at any time can vary from seventy feet high to a high of one hundred and sixteen feet. It is the highest sand dune in the USA. Yes we climbed to the top.

You can see the dune behind Nancy.

Getting started on the way to the top.

About 1/4 of the way to the top.

At the top---- notice in the background the hang gliders being pulled, pushed, and carried to the top.

At the top--- In the background you see the Currituck Sound and the mainland of NC.

At the top!!!!!

I really wonder!!! If this was 2008 would I try hang gliding. I guess we will never know the answer.

MORE OF TRIP TO DUCK N.C.

The Currituck Lighthouse located about twenty miles north of Duck N.C. in Corolla N.C. It has 214 steps to the top and of course we climbed to the top. The lighthouse was built in 1873 and is brick construction.
When built it finished the lighting of the Outer Banks from Cape Henry to the north and Bodie Island to the south. The beacon still shines today but is controlled by a computer not by a lighthouse keeper.

The happy couple at the top!!!

The Atlantic ocean is behind me.

Currituck Sound and the N.C. mainland is behind Nancy. If you look close you can see the Whalehead club near the small lake slightly to the right of Nancy. Mr.Edward Collings Knight Jr.bought land that sprawled from the Atlantic Ocean to Currituck Sound and built this mansion as a hunting club.

This picture shows why we like the Outer banks. The beaches are kept in a more natural state than the tourist beaches of south Fl.

A lonely beach walk but we enjoy the serenity of the experience.

It was a cold morning at the beach.
I hope to have wet your appetite to try the less crowed beaches of the Outer Banks. It was in the eighties during the day about sixty five at night and yet they called it the off season.

CREATIVE, UNIQUE , SHOWING THE ARTIST IN TODD.
Are the photos of part five. I am sure he had help from his sister and Sarah his friend.
I am more a traditional photographer that frames the picture and shoots. You will see in the following photos Todd's ability to see outside the box.
Photo one is a simple head shot yet notice the way you see and can identify at least four people in the background.

Photo two is posed but shows Sarah having fun with the pose.

I would have never seen the picture in photo three yet it is an interesting head shot with the ability to see lots of background.

I would guess sister Kelsey took the holding hands photo.

Photo five is Sarah's friend Emily
Again I would not have thought of a picture of hands holding a program.

I hope you enjoy the uniqueness of Todd's photography as much as the proud grandpa.
