A TRIP TO SEARCY ARKANSAS.

This past weekend found Nancy and I traveling to Searcy Ar. with our daughter Terri and son in law Joe to visit Todd and Kelsey at Harding University.

The purpose of the trip was to attend Todd's senior Art Show.

Todd will be graduating in May 2011 with a degree in Art Education. Kelsey is enjoying her freshman year.

Todd displayed a wide variety of art including photography, pottery, and varieties of drawings.

Saturday was set up day and it was a family affair.

Nancy and Terri ran errands,Joe and Sara were picture hangers and were instrumental in hanging the abstract in the corner.Kelsey managed to have lunch and dinner with us and as you can tell I was the photographer.

Nancy is holding "flat Katie"as they admire Grace [the small picture} and Waiting {the larger picture}.Nancy is an Oasis reading tutor and their project is a spin off of Flat Stanley.

Todd, the proud artist is holding Flat Katie as they admire some of his pottery.

The painting on the left is titled "Self portrait and the one on the right is titled "My Spot" but is really the Villa Todd stayed in on the Harding University Florence Italy campus.Sorry the pictures are not better but my goal was the corner abstract.

The corner painting is titled "Connection" and the hanging was a team effort of Joe and Sara.

This painting is titled "Midnight Tea" and there is a story behind it. The tea pot was a wedding gift of Terri, and Joe's wedding and was given by a friend of mine from high school.

This painting is titled "Beginning"

This painting is titled "Edge" and might possibly end up proudly displayed in the Tritschler living room in the future.

This painting possibly drew the most lookers during Sunday's opening. It is titled "Machine"

This photo certainly drew the most attention and it features Kelsey with her friend Matt in downtown Belleville Il.

Todd the show was great, terrific, and so much more.!!!!
Grandma and I are very proud of you,

THANKS TO ALL VETERANS FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY
I still remember WW11
*** Saving quarters to buy war bonds
*** Gas rationing
*** Night time blackouts in St Louis
*** My dad and uncles serving in the military in far off places in our world.
*** I remember Christmas Eve 1945 when I my dad came home after three years.

My dad in the Philippines

Both my dad and his younger brother Uncle Wib both served in the Philippine's and somehow they met.
My dad is on the left

War time currency notice it states military currency at the top.

I wonder who the Junior soldier is?

Nancy's dad served in Italy and always had war stories to tell.

I just finished a Stephen E. Ambrose book 'The Wild Blue" the story of men and boys who flew B-24's over Germany.
A great book.Nancy and I often talk about our being so mature at age 21 than the kids are today yet in WW11 we had men ages 18 to 23 as pilots,,radiomen, and turret gunners flying expensive and intricate air craft.
Ambrose ends the book and I end this blog with a life searching question.
Where did America find such men?
THANKS TO ALL OUR VETERANS!!!!!!

A RECENT DAY TRIP!!!!!!!!!
A recent Thursday found Nancy and I in Kimswick Mo touring the Anheuser home and Fredmar Farms that is only available for touring on Thursday.
The Anheuser home is the former home of the last Anhesurer Frederick to work for the brewery. The house tour was well worth the small fee and the grounds were outstanding.

A fast moving barge traveling down the mighty Mississippi.

I have viewed the Mississippi from its beginning in Minn. to the end in Louisiana and this is "the most beautiful spot" that I have viewed of the mighty Mississippi.

The Anheuser's also were horse people.
